This is the second part of our blog about Education Marketing.
In part one we covered:
- The difference in marketing your educational establishment today compared to just a few years ago.
- Why easily navigating around your website is so important
- Why a responsive website is a ‘must have’
If you missed part one you can find it here
Now we’re moving on to Design (we love this part!)
Website Design
The layout, navigation, accessibility and look and feel of your website.
Layout
This means the way each page is presented, how much text is used, how many images are used and how much space if left between each item on the page.
Educational websites often hold a lot of information and poorly laid out pages will damage your brand and drive your visitors away.
Planning out the areas dedicated to students, teachers, parents and other visitors is an important part of your website design that we’ll manage for you.
Navigation
It’s important to consider the path through the website that your visitors will take to access the information they’re looking for, and the way in which the information is laid out. It’s crucial that key details are easily located and visible. Every link must work, and every button, or call to action must be positioned correctly.
Look and feel
Whether you’re a specialist school or a university with an international student base you want your visitors to ‘feel’ a certain way when they visit your website.
Every decision you make, from the style of font, to the phrasing of the text you use builds an impression in your visitors mind.
This is something we’re passionate about at Design Image. We take great care to make sure all content is consistent with the vision you have and the image you want to portray. Down to the last full stop! (Some might call this obsessive, we call it attention to detail!)
Content
Words
We’ve touched on content, the information you make available to your visitors. As an educator there’ll probably be a lot you want to say. Some of it you’ll have to provide legally, most of it you’ll want to share to show how great you are. The content is the part of your website you provide. It’s what makes you, you. (Don’t worry, our team is on hand if you need them. We’ll help you say what you want to say in the best way possible!)
Pictures
As important as the words you use – in fact, some would argue more important than the words – are the images you choose to use. Professional high-quality images that serve a purpose are the only ones you should choose. We can advise you, and engage our experienced in-house photographer for you if appropriate.
That’s all for Part Two of Education Marketing.
Part Three of this Education Marketing Blog will cover:
- Branding
- Internal Branding
- Associated Branding
