Horizon World of Play

We were thrilled to work with Horizon Leisure Centre, designing their logo, a range of marketing publicity material, stationery, posters and signage as well as wall graphics for their latest exciting new expansion – Horizon World of Play.

Horizon World of Play is an indoor play centre that opened on Monday 6th July 2015. It offers a unique fun and educational experience for children.

Once checked in children can travel around the world visiting a range of countries including UK, USA, Italy, Australia and Antarctica.

Each country has a range of exciting special features that children can play on whilst learning about famous landmarks and places. Children can surf in Australia; find their way around a busy Oxford Circus in London; see the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy; climb the Statue of Liberty in New York or slide down the icy slides in Antarctica with penguin friends.

Horizon World of Play contains three new themed party rooms UK, Australia and USA. You can book a Horizon World of Play party for groups upto 20 children. The price includes a party host, play in the centre, food, a party bag and invitation.

The Brief

The brief was to create a design which enriched their theme of world travel which would appeal to children and their parents. Every element we were asked to design needed to engage children and encourage parents to visit the play centre’s facilities and consider the themed playrooms as a real alternative to other venues for children’s parties.

The outcome

Using original hand sketches, we created three individual engaging graphics for the themed party rooms. Each graphic was tailored to the room’s theme country, capturing iconic buildings and landmarks in a fun, colourful and educational way.

Inspired by Horizon’s travel design, we continued the theme to all signage whilst in keeping with horizon’s branding guidelines, from the pricing board to the ‘airport check in’ sign above reception.

Each piece of work was carefully considered to ensure that every point of contact visitors had with ‘World of Play’ from the marketing materials to the ‘Passport loyalty card’ to walking around the centre was consistent with the travel theme, was engaging, relevant and enhanced the experience for both children and adults.
